A Day in the Zoo

A kid of twelve,
thought everything was going swell,
tiger lazying in the pond,
the giraffe grazing around,
Zoo, the best place to dwell.

A father of two, alone,
had no idea his son had gone,
with his uncle, who hadn’t a cell phone
He searched around, desperately on his own.

Those were the days without a phone,
he asked the neighbors about his son,
special elephant event at the zoo,
on a rust old scooter, the father flew,
while the son was watching a kangaroo.

Seeing his son on the elephant,
the father started to reprimand,
Come down, he said
Never will you go alone
We will now go home.

The son was dejected, heartbroken,
Why his father had stopped him from having fun,
A little nicer, his dad could have spoken.
But help himself, the father could not,
for he loved the son a lot!
